Freshman Cierra Adams smashes Central’s scoring record in All- Area Soccer

bilde It is generally not expected out of a freshman to be so good to set records. But Cierra Adams from Montgomery Central has proved everyone wrong by setting new heights and gaining immense acclaims in her role within such a short span of time. As a freshman during her first year with the team, Adams learnt some great game tactics.

According to the Central team coach Gary Gossett, Adams is really good in offensive scheme play and has excelled in her role. The season has gone exceptionally well for her as she scored 39 goals to smash all records during the season in school. This score is the highest till now scored in the history of Central’s soccer by any girl or boy. With this score, Adams even got the Leaf-Chronicle All-Area Soccer Player of the Year award.

Barcelona kicks off Champions League campaign with a win , After the initial jolt of conceding a goal against Panathinaikos, Barcelona finally gave their fans something to cheer about as they kicked off their Champions League with an exciting win at Camp Nou. The change in the fortune came about as Messi managed to hit the net twice before half time and was ably supported by David Villa. The wonderful performance by the two stars meant that Barcelona had already taken an unassailable lead of 3-1 over their rivals before the half time.

Rio Ferdinand is all set to make his Premiere League comeback after an almost 3 months lay off due a knee injury. He played for around 45 minutes in a Manchester Senior Club game against Oldham Athletic and looked just about fine.  Ferdinand is showing signs on fast recovery and is expected to make to the side very soon. He has been instrumental in Manchester United’s successes over the last few years and the fans as well as the team would be looking forward to his comeback.

Defending champions and one of the sides that was highly likely to win this year’s World Cup, has crashed out the tournament. Italy was shown the door by Slovakia, who displayed tremendous composure and skills to beat the defending champions. The Slovakians, who were younger, faster and more determined deserved to win and they did, that too in style. Although Italy did find its touch during the last stages of the game and came pretty close to drawing level with Slovakia, it wasn’t good enough.

Barry ruled out for four weeks with injury England’s World Cup bid suffered a major blow when ace midfielder Gareth Barry, playing for Manchester City was injured during a crucial English Premiership league match against Tottenham, which City lost by a solitary goal and also missed out from the opportunity of playing in next years champions league. Barry injured his ankle during the game and will be out of action for at least four weeks.
