As Wigan manager, Roberto Martinez will now continue to improve his contact with the Latics.

This 37 year old man is full of qualities as an aspirational manager and has achieved this current position. Villa owner Randy Lerner also stated that Martinez will not be joining the Villa. You will be glad to know that one year still remains on his contract at Wigan when he was officially approached through proper channels.

Hernández knocked in a double and both the goals were scored from close range.

The first leg of the match was over with zero score on both sides. However, Marseille seemed more confident as they had an upper hand. Since they already had the advantage of an away goal, they simply needed to get a draw for them to be in the quarters.

Javier Hernández, who is popularly known as Chicharito, made it clear that it is not so easy for Marseille. He opened the scoring in the 5th minute and showed the intent of the hone team.

Ryan Giggs, one of the most experienced one in the team, started the play, while Wayne Rooney took it close to the goal, where Hernández was already set to play the goal and made no mistake on it.

Though, Marseille got good time to be with the ball and got several chances as well, however, the French team missed many well-developed chances.

The second easy finish from Hernandez from close range came in the 75th minute of the game. This time also Giggs was the starter, while Antonio Valencia pushed the ball near and finally Hernandez sent it to the 6-yard box.

At the 82nd minute, Marseille were gifted a goal by Wes Brown. But the team still failed to earn a draw.

Though the UEFA Champions League is days away, the exceptional performance of equaling a 15 successive wins record by the Spanish title holders has

In about a fortnight from now, FC Barcelona meets in the first leg of the round of 16 of UEFA Champions League. Going steady with the achievement in Liga along with visible performance on FIFA Ballon d’Or, FC Barcelona’s game has definitely sharpened the minds of supporters of Arsenal FC. And the question that is going on everyone’s mind right now is how to stop this powerful team.

Moreover, the reminiscence of the last encounter between the teams during UEFA Champions League last season’s quarterfinals is still fresh where Josep Guardiola’s team

Knock down the English Premier side 6-3. Undoubtedly, the four-goal performance of Lionel Messi’s in the second leg was the biggest contributor.

The absence of Puyol due to knee injury in the first match is quite unlucky. However, Messi, the top scorer of the last season with 27 goals combined in the Liga and Europe in 2010/11 along with 15 assists is unstoppable. It is yet to see now, how the Arsenals manage to fight him this season. In addition, 17 goal assists between Pedro Rodríguez and Daniel Alves this term, it seems Barcelona is a tough possession this time.

The Netherlands and Germany had a great start to their Euro Cup 2012 campaign. The two sides which performed exceedingly well during this year’s World Cup, although Germany failed to make to the finals, this is a perfect beginning for the two sides.

Germany had a fairly easy outing against Turkey as they beat them 3-0. On the other hand the Dutch had a tough time to beat Moldava. It was courtesy Klaas-Jan Huntelaar’s six goal of the qualifying that enabled Netherlands to register a win.

In another match, European and World champions Spain defeated Lithuania 3-1 to register a convincing victory. Spain has really been a revelation after its World Cup victory.

All is not well at the Italian camp though. The former world champions had a tough time drawing with Northern Ireland. Although they had several chances to score, they simply couldn’t find the back of the net. It’s about time the champions of defense found a good striker.

Italy still tops the group but they need to pull up their socks big time. They need to make up for their dismal performance at this year’s World Cup and if they want to keep their fans happy they really need to come up with something out of the blue.

Turkey had a huge fan following and they were cheered by over 70,000 fans but the Germans were too good and left all the fans disappointed to clinch a fantastic victory. The qualifying stages seem to be really exciting, so let’s hope that it sustains this excitement throughout the tournament.

Argentina proved it one more time it is a great side, as they thwarted the world champion, Spain 4-1 in a friendly match played in Buenos Aires. Goals from Lionel Messi, Carlos Tévez , Gonzalo Higuaín and Sergio Agüero, assisted by some sloppy work by Pepe Reina made sure that world champions weren’t invincible. After the World cup debacle, this should do a world of good to the Argentine side. This will give them the much needed morale booster as they gear up for the next season.

Messi gave Argentina the early lead when he lobbed one past to Reina, who had a terrible day at the office and not just looked out of sorts but also nervous. Higuain made the score line 2-0 in the first half itself. Carlos scored the third goal for Argentina when Reina slipped while trying to clear the ball and Carlos managed to slip the ball past the net.

Spain rested many players who featured in the starting eleven World Cup finals against Holland, whereas there were very few changes in the Argentine side. The interim coach Sergio Batista, who took over from the great Diego Maradona would be extremely pleased with his side’s performance. With no pressure on either side due to the absence of competitiveness, both the sides produced some brilliant football, with Argentina dominating mostly.
