Barcelona Update

As many of you may have noticed, I have been watching the Catalan team, Barcelona very closely.  While I will always try to remain unbiased, I will not hide that I am a supporter of Barca.

Today, Barca signed another defender Martin Caceres from Villareal.  In a funny move, Caceres never played in a single match for Villareal.  After coming over from Sporting de Montevideo, he was then loaned out by Villareal to Recreativo.

Caceres is the third signing of the year and the second defender to be signed, Pique was the first.   A move is now inevitable as Barca has too many defenders, nine to be exact.  In a perfect world, one would not even need a backup for every defender.

 Now Who’s In Camp:

Caceres, Pique, Rafa Marquez, Milito, Puyol, Sylvinho, Thuram, Abidal, and Presas.

Possibly on the move: Obviously, Caceres, Pique, and Puyol are safe.  Unless somebody offered a ton of money, Milito and Oleguer Presas are presumably safe too.  So that leaves:

  •  Rafa: It has much been rumored that he might be on the go or out the door.  I personally like him and wish he were staying but its not my camp its Pep’s Camp.
  • Abidal: He appeared in many games for the Rijkaard regime, however, see Rafa’s case.  New law in town now.
  • Thuram: As his career comes closer to the end, he may wish for a return to France.  We shall see.
  • Sylvinho: I am unsure, with the new crew in town, he maybe without a spot

I do not mean to turn people off because I have posted so much on Barca.  I will post big news regarding all the transfers of football/ soccer and anything that somebody would like to be posted on.  Just comment if you would like something to be added.

Poor Wayne. He worked hard but didn't have any service. Shocked that United went out, but its all they deserved.

hey jason, nice article, and definitely something to think about. It is true that there is a huge gulf between say club soccer, high school soccer, and college level soccer. You know that I want to play at the NCAA level, but I do understand that, realistically, I'm just not
